Mumbai: Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan on Thursday dismissed reports that the beleaguered Indian Premier League franchise is up for sale.
Khan said he had made a lot of emotional investment in building the side and was not selling it.
"The amount of love I have invested in it, nobody in this world can afford to buy it," Shah Rukh said after casting his vote.
News reports earlier claimed the actor wanted to wash his hands off the Knight Riders, who have been struggling in the second IPL in South Africa.
According to reports, Khan was in touch with Nokia, Sahara and the Anil Ambani Group to sell the side he had bought last year for Rs 300 crore.
Knight Riders have been plagued by a slew of controversies which went on to affect their performance on the field as the side managed just one win so far in the second IPL.
Coach John Buchanan's multiple-captain theory, stripping Sourav Ganguly of captaincy and handing it over to Brendon McCullum, sending Aakash Chopra and Sanjay Bangar back home midway through the tournament and reports of a possible players' revolt against the coach - all affected the side's morale.
McCullum himself is going through a bad patch and has decided to step down if the side fails to reach the semifinals. Khan was with the team in South Africa before returning home to cast his vote and he plans not to rejoin the team unless it starts winning again.
"If my team continues to lose like this, I am not going back to South Africa. I will go only when they play well and win," Shah Rukh had said.

The beginning of a new day!
When the season started, I thought I would write every couple of days to all our fans that visit our site.
Firstly, thanks for doing so and a special thanks to all who believe in the Knight Riders and support us as a team. Apologies for not being a regular at my blog or actually not even writing the first entry with the start of the season. So here is the first one.
I thought I would start the first write up by detailing the threshold and culture of this franchise. That would have been apt if we hadn't started playing. Right now, as I write at 5 a.m. in Cape Town, having lost yet another game, which we could have won, the heart is heavy and the mind is numb. Full marks to Rajasthan Royals for proving that a true champion team does not choke at the finish line. Congratulations guys.
Since the commencement of this season, we have a trail of one win out of three, which is not a good position to be in. So at this time I will not get into why the franchise was started and what dreams we all have as far as our ambitions are concerned. All ambitions finally will get fulfilled only when the team wins and keeps true to the faith that all our fans have invested in us. Till such time, I am going to talk a bit about the game as I understand, which needless to say is quite limited. I will also talk about the role that I choose to play as part of the Knight Riders.
I treat this team as I treat my own children. I am quite a doting father and perhaps a bit too emotionally involved with all the things my team goes through. I feel like crying when they lose and go wild with happiness when they win. Throughout the tournament last year, my only concern was that the team members should not in any way feel sad or bad after the losses we suffered. If I could, I would want to take all the disappointments they face with every loss or a bad performance onto myself. As much as I try, I now realise that it is not possible.
This is a set of professional players and they seem to understand one rule that most of us cannot understand. And the rule is that this is a game, and one team will lose while the other will win.
If either the success or the defeat of the last match lingers beyond a day, it would be impossible for them to face a new match and a new challenge the next time round, with full steam and gusto. They gather the broken pieces, try and understand what could be done better and start afresh. Like a father learns from his children, I am beginning to understand this lesson too. Earlier I used to pep talk our team before and after every match, so that their morale would remain positive. As the year has passed into another, I now realise that these boys actually walk the talk; and I need to do the same. I am learning from this whole experience that the more I practice, the easier things seem.
The harder I run, the farther I can go. The more I pray, the less I feel the burden of performance. Also I am learning that after doing all this, there is no guarantee of winning everyday. So all one can do is to give it your best shot and leave the rest.
In attempting to give it our best, our team has taken lots of unpopular decisions. Starting with, the multiple captains to choices of whom we play in which match. A truckload of criticism from all quarters has been dumped at our doorsteps. Every time I go and sit in the stadium, I feel the weight of all the choices made. If we come out winners through this tournament, will I feel vindicated? The answer is no. If we don't perform as well as we should, would I feel we did the wrong thing? Again the answer is no.
The decisions we take in life, need not always lead to a black and white solution as in mathematics. The decisions are guidelines and beliefs we chalk down our path towards a goal. Sometimes we get to the goal inspite of the decisions and sometimes because of them. And there are times when all goes wrong. The strength lies in sticking to a path that you chose to begin with. As the journey progresses, whether that path turns out to be tough or easy, you have to follow it because therein lies your principles and beliefs.
Assessing how a ball should be played after seeing it at 1500 frames per second on your television sets is one thing…but to take that split millisecond decision, when the ball tears down at you, at 150 kilometers per hour, is another ballgame altogether. In retrospect things can be explained and faults and genius can be torn apart or praised, but in the moment that you have to live and deliver, a path has to be chosen and walked on, with complete belief that it will work out fine.
I don't know if the path we have chosen is correct or not…and that's why we won't feel vindicated in victory and neither will we feel ashamed in defeat. It's just a path we the Knight Riders have chosen to walk on and will stick to it, till the very end. I hope all those who believe in this team will walk along with us.
This is getting as long as a Test Match, and I need to end it. I can feel the first rays of the Sun beginning to break through. A new day is about to begin. The defeat still lingers thick in my mind…so I will try and sleep it off and start afresh again. I know my boys will do the same. We will face our disappointments head on with a smile and a prayer. I close my eyes with these thoughts from Theodore Roosevelt:

Need for direction
"We need to channelise the youth energy in the right way. We also need to be secure with our language and religion. If my religion is good, that doesn't mean I will make fun of a different religion."
Be the best to deserve the best
To change things around us, we need to change ourselves first. We have to see if we can be the best law abiding citizens of the country. And also take action and exercise your choice. Only then we can have the right to criticise or support someone who is aiming to lead the country.
One at a time please
We have to support the voting system, and give one best party a chance. Let itrule for five years and be accountable to us. Coalitions and alliances don't work. If they are insecure, it doesn't work.
A young India
I believe in the youth. I am a very positive thinker and I believe in the power and sensitivity of young people. I think the youth is going to be very sensitive to the changing scenario around the globe and will put their best foot forward in making the whole planet a better place.
Heart and soul
I am glad that our country is not yet mechanised and plastic like a lot of other countries around the world. We need to be proud of our country, in spite of the bad roads, potholes etc. Lets be proud of what we have, as there is a lot to be proud of.
Get the ideology right
The whole ideology of governance should be economic development and achievement of security and education. There is no other ideology or agenda - there's no relevance of Islam, Hinduism or Christianity here.

That Shah Rukh Khan's character in My Name Is Khan suffers from Asperger's Syndrome is known. But what is unknown is that his screen persona Rizvan Khan holds on to black stones in many scenes in Karan Johar's film.

It is learnt that this is part of the actor's styling. Says a source, "Along with a distinct look, the director has given SRK's character a sort of a security blanket he holds tightly in his palm."
Adds the source, "Karan has added the stones as part of the styling. It's obvious that having black stones in his hands is this desire to clutch on to somethingand not let go. It is sacred to him."
Apparently the character's reactions are shown in the manner he clutches on to the stones in any given situation his fist reflects his emotional state of mind.

Two of Bollywood's biggest names, Shahrukh and Aamir Khan are leading this year's International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards nominations.
The 10th IIFA festival, which begins from May 11 to 13, will be held in Macau, in China.
"2009 celebrates a decade of IIFA magic and promises to be yet another enthralling experience to be held at the Venetian Macao," said Amitabh Bachchan, the IIFA brand ambassador while announcing the nominees here.

Apparently King Khan will fly into Mumbai to perform at a very high profile wedding. Yup! It seems that Shah Rukh has been paid about Rs 3 cr to put up a show at the wedding of Kanti Govani's nephew.
Kanti is the owner of a prominent commercial complex in Mumbai and has roped in a bevy of Bollywood stars to attend the wedding. are among those who are supposed to perform too.

The part that we need to show everyone around us, that we can take a hit; we can fall down; but we also know how to scrape ourselves from the floor and continue to fight. We still can take a few hits more and still fight back. Lots of people are saying lots of things about us, but none of them are right. The only right thing is that the owners have faith in this team, the coach has faith in this team; as a matter of fact the team has faith in this team. So there is no problem here at all. Just go out and play to have a great time…enjoy yourselves because pressure only builds more pressure. There is no need to prove anything amongst us. Durban: Shah Rukh Khan didn't read the riot act during his 20-minute interaction with the Kolkata Knight Riders, in Port Elizabeth, after the massive 92-run defeat at the hands of the Mumbai Indians on Monday evening. Instead, the franchise's principal owner asked the Brendon McCullums to relax and "enjoy" their cricket before looking for wins in the ongoing edition of the IPL. They've only had one (from five matches) in the tournament and shared points with the Chennai Super Kings after a wash-out in Cape Town. "You're like my children and I can't scold my children... First, try to relax and enjoy your cricket before worrying about winning... Once the enjoyment is there, the results will improve," Shah Rukh is understood to have told his Knights at the St George's Park dressing room. Johannesburg, April 27 (IANS) Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will take a
break from following his Kolkata Knight Riders team in the Indian Premier League tournament being played across South Africa to cast his vote in the Indian elections.
Having politely declined earlier offers to join political rallies of any South African parties in the run-up to the elections here last Wednesday, which was overwhelmingly won by the African National Congress (ANC), Khan will head back to India on Wednesday, together with his family, wife Gauri and children Aryan and Suhana.
Khan had reportedly been approached by ANC leaders in Durban prior to the first IPL games there a few days before the elections here. Other IPL team owners Preity Zinta of the Kings XI Punjab and Shilpa Shetty of the Rajasthan Royals had reportedly also declined offers to appear at political rallies.
Zinta said they had to maintain their political neutrality, just as they did in India.
None of the Bollywood stars would comment on the political mantle that has been assumed by one of their ilk, Sanjay Dutt, who is embroiled in a controversy with his participation in the Indian elections. Dutt had been widely publicised as putting in an appearance at an ANC rally in Durban last month, but failed to appear, citing personal problems.
Unlike South African citizens abroad, who this year were allowed to cast their votes at missions there after potential voters won a high court appeal in this regard, Indian citizens abroad cannot vote, except for diplomatic staff.
Mission officials here were also not sure whether the players in the IPL teams would be allowed to cast their ballots here, but the consensus appeared to be that this would not be permitted.
Khan said he had warned his team that if they did well in his absence, he would return; if not, he would be shouting at them from India.

KKR has been in controversy much before the IPL season 2 kicked off. It all began with Buchanan's theory of clipping Ganguly's wings by projecting his theory of multiple captains which raised a storm in West Bengal. In order to play safe, Shahrukh had to come out with the statement that Ganguly will remain at the top spot, but to every body's surprise he and his team management took a U-turn in South Africa by removing Ganguly from the top job.
There is a major storm brewing inside the Knight Riders camp and the team's dismal performance in the tournament is not helping the cause. Over the least few days, it was the issue of mystery blogger that crated a stir in the KKR camp, and it is believed that Akash Chopra has been axed for the fact that he was alleged to be the man behind the blog bringing out the issues of the dressing room to the world.
Nothing seems to be going right for KKR and its boss Shahrukh. There are certain players in the team not happy with the behaviour of coach and his army of support staff and at the same time the team's poor outings have demoralized others as well. When contacted KKR manager Joy Bhattacharya said, "Bangar and Chopra are distinguished and senior international players. But at the moment we don't need them. We can't keep them for the heck of it and have them sitting or just fielding. It affects their career too."
Though the two cricketers refused to comment, the decision, it is said, hasn't gone down well with them.

New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has joined the celebrity blogger bandwagon and is using it to pour out his feelings for his Indian Premier League (IPL) team Knight Riders.
The actor's post came in effect after the Knight Riders lost their third match opposite Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty's co-owned team Rajasthan Royal on Thursday in Cape Town.
"...as I write at 5 am in Cape Town, having lost yet another game, which we could have won, the heart is heavy and the mind is numb. Full marks to Rajasthan Royals for proving that a true champion team does not choke at the finish line. Congratulations guys," Shah Rukh posted on the Knight Riders' official website.

Bollywood star Shah-rukh Khan, who has caused a stir in South Africa while attending the Indian Premier League cricket tournament, will head back home this week to vote in India's general election.
Khan, the owner of IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, will leave South Africa on Wednesday with his wife, Gauri, and children Aryan and Su- hana, to cast his vote on April 30.
Indian citizens are not allowed to vote when ab- road. This means Indian cricketers playing in the IPL matches may also not be able to make their mark during the month-long election, which started last week. Only bureaucrats and government officers are entitled to a postal ballot.
The Indian consul general in Durban, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, said India's system did not allow Indians overseas to vote. "People on holiday abroad will not be allowed to vote. It's only those on official government duty. I am not sure if the Indian players in the IPL will be allowed to vote. Generally, as per our electoral rule, there really is no way to allow those not in India or not in their constituencies to vote," said Shringla.
Speaking in Durban this week, soon after his team's win against the Kings XI Punjab based on the Duckworth-Lewis method, Khan said it was good to win. "The win is a sign that the team is coming together. I hope they continue this form. It's nice that the players are coming together at the beginning of the tournament.
"We have a deal with batsman Chris Gayle — he has to send one of the balls to Kolkata from Durban," Khan said, laughing.
But, he added, bad weather influencing a match and forcing the use of the Duckworth-Lewis method was "a sad way" for any team to win or lose. His team also lost games in India last year because of rain.
He said Durban had many Kings XI Punjab fans but hoped his team would also earn a fan base as the tournament progressed to other parts of the country.
"I like all sports. It's nice to be part of young people. If I can teach them something, it is positivity and going all out to win. But if you lose, it's okay, but do not become losers. This is what I teach my kids."
Khan said he dreamt of carrying the IPL trophy around the field at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, where the final would be played.
"I have dreams of being in Joburg and running round the field 10 times with the IPL trophy in my hand. I need to practise that and get fit.
"I am optimistic and told the team that if they did well, I'll come back; if they don't, I'll shout at them from India."
Khan said he was keen to explore more of South Africa. "This is the first time the kids have come to South Africa for such a long period. I want to visit Singita Game Reserve and Kruger Park. Next year, during the holidays, I would like to come and go around the country. I have many friends here.
"I have never shot a film in South Africa, although a lot of my friends have done so. It would be wonderful to make a movie here, provided that the locations suit the film, " said Khan.
