Want to know what everyone in town is currently excited about? No it's not Katrina Kaif or Deepika Padukone. B-Town folks are excited about receiving an invitation to Shah Rukh Khan's private 42-seater in-house theatre that is on the first floor of his residential block Mannat Annexe.

Yesterday before he took a flight to the US for the promotions of his latest film, the Badshah had a screening for his and Gauri's immediate family. And, when he returns on February 6 to Mumbai, he will hold a preview for Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan, Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jessia, Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor. Well darling, if you aren't invited... then it just means that you are not happening.

Security has been increased outside Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's residence here after Shiv Sena activists intensified their protests against the actor for his remarks favouring inclusion of Pakistani cricketers in the IPL, police said.

Adequate number of policemen have been deployed at actor's bungalow 'Mannat' in suburban Bandra after receiving information that Sena activists would hold protest against the actor outside his residence, they added.

"We have an information that a protest would be held by some activists of a political party outside the residence of Shah Rukh Khan. We have deployed our men to avert any untoward incident during the protest," said Joint Police Commissioner (Law & Order) Himanshu Roy.

"Those violating the law will be dealt with very strict action," he said.

Sena's senior lead Manohar Joshi said, "Shah Rukh should not interfere in the politics.

Mumbai, Jan 31 - How far would you go for love? If you haven't given it a thought so far then have your answer ready because Shah Rukh Khan would soon be asking this question across the country. The superstar's love query to Indians is part of a special promotional campaign for "My Name Is Khan", says filmmaker Karan Johar.

"Yes, there is this huge campaign that has been designed around the strong essence of love that 'My Name Is Khan' carries. As a part of this, Shah Rukh would be travelling across the country and pop this question to the 'aam janta'. This would be his way of connecting with people who are waiting to catch him in 'My Name Is Khan'," Karan, who has produced and directed the film, told IANS.

Establishing a connection with the people is fast turning out to be a trend amongst the Bollywood biggies. Way back in 2006, Shah Rukh himself did so to promote "Don - The Chase Begins Again". In recent times, while Aamir Khan has pulled out all stops to mingle with people across the country for his "Ghajini" and "3 Idiots", even a normally reluctant Salman Khan was seen stepping out for "Veer".

Abhishek Bachchan too went out for multiple city tours when it came to promoting "Delhi 6".

As the much-hyped "My Name Is Khan", which releases Feb 12, brings Shah Rukh and Kajol together on screen after eight long years, one can expect some fireworks during its promotions as well.

"This is going to be a pan-India initiative and won't be restricted to metros or cosmopolitan cities. In addition, there would be a lot of other things happening to facilitate the film's promotion," Karan said.

"... The idea of asking people 'How far would you go for love?' should be quite enticing for many out there. It should be a good participative exercise," the filmmaker added.

"My Name Is Khan", which is being marketed and distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures, is about Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh), an autist, who is mistaken for a terrorist while travelling in the US. Karan, Shah Rukh and Kajol have teamed up so far for candy-floss movies... so how come they decided to opt for different kind of cinema?

"I just felt that cinema is maturing with every passing year and I should move on with the times as well," Karan said with a smile.

"If I am constantly going to try and woo the audience with a certain kind of cinema without doing something that is entirely different, what's the point in sitting pretty in the position where I currently am? Why not use it for my own advantage and make something really fresh... I truly believe that if you are motivated just for the sake of it, you would get caught eventually. You can succeed only if you have a very strong conviction backing up your thought." (IANS)

Probably the first preview show of the much anticipated 'My Name Is Khan' outside Bombay was held two weeks back in Abu Dhabi. It was for the owners of Imagenation which often partners 20th Century Fox in the distribution of its Hollywood ventures in the Middle East and which is also a partner with Fox in MNIK.

Reliable reports have it that the Sheikhs of Imagenation were so moved after watching the film that they were all crying.

MNIK is about a young Muslim man, Rizvan Khan (Shah Rukh Khan), who is out to prove that merely because his name happens to be Khan, it doesn't make him a terrorist.

Perhaps, spurred on by the response at the private show, the film's distributors (Fox) and producers Karan Johar and Shah Rukh have decided to hold a premiere of the film in Abu Dhabi on 10th February.

Shah Rukh Khan posters are up and advance booking for tickets has begun. The Polish capital, home to a large number of King Khan fans, is all set for the world premiere of My Name is Khan February 12.

To cash in on Shah Rukh's immense popularity in Poland, the distributors 20th Century Fox has selected Warsaw for the world premiere of his latest film, which sees him paired opposite Kajol after eight long years.

Directed by Karan Johar, the film is about Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh), an autist, who is mistaken for a terrorist while travelling in the US.

The Indian community and Polish Bollywood buffs are thrilled as this will be the first time a Hindi movie will be shown in Poland along with other western capitals and important cities around the globe simultaneously.

"We cannot believe it but still it is going to be a historic day when we can see Shah Rukh's movie on the very first day of its release. Till this day we normally get (to see) Bollywood films which are normally a year old or so with Polish subtitles," said J J Singh, president of the Indo-Polish Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Big posters have been pasted at important corners of the city and a brisk advance booking of the forthcoming film has already started.

"Finally Poland is on the radar for Bollywood movies and luckily both the producer and distributor understand the value of the Polish market. In five years time, when Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham took Poland by surprise in December 2004, we have covered much ground to be acknowledged as serious lovers of Bollywood movies," said Janusz Krzyzowski, president of the India-Poland Cultural Committee.

"This is great news for us Indians. Let us hope many more Bollywood producers will take a cue from Karan Johar's initiative to release their latest film in Poland. The profile of India has changed dramatically since 2004 and now sky is the limit for cooperation between India and Poland," said Rajesh Vaishnaw, Indian charge d'affaires.

It was the release of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham with Polish sub-titles that made Shah Rukh a household name in Poland. Later, with films like Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Na Ho and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna among others he almost became synonymous with Bollywood in Poland.

The songs of his movies became instant hits and young girls and boys had his posters in their rooms. Last year a biography of Shah Rukh penned by Anupama Chopra was translated into Polish.

Shah Rukh Khan may have a big heart but he ensures that his generosity does not come in the way of his work and superstitions.

Recently, the actor gifted his favourite watch to a reality show contestant, Vineet Singh on his request, but just as quickly took it back and instead gave Vineet a brand new one. The old watch was required for the continuity scenes of one of his films and is also believed to be SRK's lucky watch.

Confirming the news, Vineet says, "On the show, while giving me the watch, Shah Rukh told me 'although I am giving it to you now, I need it back as it will affect the continuity of my film. However, tomorrow, I will call you to Mannat (SRK's residence) and give you a brand new watch.' So, as soon as the show got over, I returned the watch to him." A prompt call from SRK took Vineet by surprise. "I was so happy when I received a call from SRK. I was called to Mannat where I was gifted a brand new watch. He was also apologetic about not gifting me the earlier watch," adds Vineet.

Shah Rukh Khan hosted an impromptu online press conference on Friday evening when he posted this message on Twitter inviting his followers to send him questions:

yes ask me questions...will answer for the next 10 mins and then off to bed. dont know if i can answer each one but will try

Shah Rukh (who tweets under the handle
@iamsrk) has over 96, 000 followers on the popular social networking site and was immediately flooded with questions and replies. The 10 minute answer window stretched into nearly an hour, filled with intriguing and sometimes cryptic glimpses into King Khan's world.

Quirky highlights from what SRK himself referred to as …like [a] press conference but…without nonsensical controversies include:
-can shave all hair for a role
-can make boiled eggs
-will try and give up smoking
-remember i had a toy piano when i was a kid and miss it
-age expectancy 105
-anyone can work in India
-amitji and dilip kumar fav actors

The only topic that SRK didn't address was anything related to the IPL (Indian Premier League), saying as he signed off for the night:

have a great nite. dont answer ipl questions cos people look at the wrong end of the answers. love u all and have a good life. dreams

Even after the Badshaah had signed off, fans continued to flood Twitter with messages for him, thanking him for his generosity in taking an hour to answer so many questions.

Mumbai, Jan 29 – The Maharashtra government Friday promised to protect Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan after he came under attack from the Shiv Sena for advocating the cause of Pakistani cricketers in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Minister of State for Home Ramesh Bagwe told reporters that the government was ready to provide Shah Rukh security if he desired it.

The minister also vowed to give 'full security' to all the players in the IPL matches.

The Shiv Sena hit out at the actor, who is also the Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner, after he said that he would have picked a Pakistani player for IPL matches if his team had a slot.

The IPL teams' failure to select even a single Pakistani cricketer has raised a storm in Pakistan.

Attacking Shah Rukh for espousing the cause of Pakistani players, Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said if the actor was so keen on them, 'he could go play his matches in Lahore, not in India'.

'Pakistan has been blatantly indulging in terror activities and killing our innocent people. Sena is firm in not allowing Pakistani players on our soil,' Raut told reporters.

Taking the issue further, Thane Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde announced that no film of Shah Rukh would be screened in the district.

'Since Shah Rukh Khan has hurt the sentiments of the people by his utterances, we have decided that his films will not be exhibited in any cinema or multiplex in the entire Thane district,' said Shinde.

Shah Rukh's latest movie, 'My Name Is Khan', is due for global release Feb 12.

Shah Rukh had said in Ahmedabad Wednesday that there was a need to create an environment where IPL franchisees could recruit Pakistani players with ease.

He said that his team had exhausted its quota of foreign players by picking up Shane Bond. Otherwise, he would have loved to have Pakistanis in the Kolkata Knight Riders.

In a related development, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray lashed out at industrialist Mukesh Ambani for his views in London that Mumbai belonged to the whole country.

Saying that the industrialist was 'not in his senses' when he made the statement, Thackeray said that 'Mumbai belonged to Marathis' as much as Reliance Industries belonged Mukesh Ambani.

With his film My Name Is Khan releasing on Feb 12, Shah Rukh Khan is all over the place. Be it at award functions or press conferences or on your favorite reality show, SRK is leaving no stone unturned to promote his big release. What's more, he also features on the cover page of leading men's magazine GQ in the February issue.

King Khan, as he is fondly known as, is seen sporting a disheveled, spiky look and holding a placard which states 'Where's The Love?' The actor talks about a wide variety of topics in this issue such as his equation with the Bachchans, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan to his oddest quirks. Speaking about quirks, SRK says, "I have a strange attachment to socks. They should feel right. I could be missing a flight, but if my socks are wrong, I have to take them off. I won't wear nylon socks with sneakers. The only time I get disturbed during shooting is over my socks. You can't give me brown socks. I hate different-coloured socks."

His mere presence may bring a smile on many faces and yet it's surprising to know that the one thing SRK finds difficulty in doing is to laugh on screen. "I can't laugh at will on screen. I have a big issue. It's been years since I had a big laughing scene. I can't laugh in real life either; I smile a lot. When I suddenly laugh with my kids or close friends, they stop and stare at me. I laugh maybe once in two years."

SRK also comes across as a clean person when he states, "I don't cheat. I've never had the desire to cheat anyone - financially, emotionally, or romantically. It doesn't mean I am the most morally upright person. I just think cheating is quite low. "

With such interesting tidbits from the actor's life, this February issue of GQ is a must have for any die-hard SRK fan.

If Shah Rukh has his way, Jackie might make B-Town debut in Ra1

Martial arts legend Jackie Chan will make his Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh's Ra1. Sources from Red Chillies reveal they are in talks with Chan for the superhero action film.

If Chan comes on board, expect to see major action scenes featuring him and SRK in the action-thriller directed by Anubhav Sinha.

Hollywood crew
Ra1 will be based in Miami and Hollywood crew will being used for the film. Cinematography is by Ueli Steiger ("The Maiden Heist"), while David Benullo ("Shadow Man") is screenwriter. According to the buzz, Jackie will play the role of a scientist who helps Shah Rukh fight off the bad guys. A source says, "They are hoping Jackie agrees to be part of the film. The production house has sent him a detailed script with the action scenes and a brief synopsis of his character.

Best in the business
Shah Rukh's son Aryan is a huge fan of action movies and Ra1 is being made keeping in mind what kids his age want to see in a film of this genre. Since Jackie is the best in the business when it comes to performing and executing fight scenes involving martial arts, they want to have him on this film."

Chan has worked with Mallika Sherawat in the 2005 release The Myth. However, over the years, the actor has become extremely choosy about his work. His last release -- The Spy Next Door that opened to mixed reviews and didn't do good business at the box-office.

Anubhav Sinha refused to comment on the development.

The sufi song 'Noor-e-khuda' from the film My Name is Khan is creating tremendous buzz and is topping the charts. But apparently, the song which is currently receiving tremendous appreciation on air waves was not what the lyricist Niranjan Iyengar had in mind.

Speaking on the improvisation of his original composition, Niranjan says, "The song which is currently being heard is not the original track, but that happens with most of the tracks," adding further, he says, "the original lyrics of the song were stressing a lot on the term Noor-e-khuda which were later scrapped and changed to 'Noor-e khuda …yun na humse nazre pihra.'

Well as they say all's well that ends well, it seems 'Noor-e-khuda' from My Name Is Khan sung by the trio of Adnan Sami, Shankar Mahadevan and Shreya Ghoshal has shaped up perfectly well sans the rhetoric.

so much of warmth. Well, when you are talking about superstar Shah Rukh Khan, everything has to be in perfect harmony.

And yes, he didn't forget to promote his friend Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots. "3 Idiots is a very nice film, I want each one of you to see it," says Shah Rukh who came to Ahmedabad after a decade. "I hardly get time to go on a holiday, I travel only while I am shooting. The city roads are very beautiful here. I have friends here whom I call Jaybhai and Juhiben," he laughs. And he loves his share of "khandvi, dhokla and theplas. I love Gujarati food."
Talking about his forthcoming film My Name Is Khan, SRK who was in town to inaugurate a miniplex in the city says, "It has got nothing to do with my real name. My last film was Billoo. It is the subject of the film and this is the name that suits the film. It is just a co-incidence." clarifies SRK.

And after years, he's back with Kajol on the silver screen and the entire nation is waiting to see them together. And when the film is directed by Karan Johar, it has to be more special. "They (Karan and Kajol) both are talented. I am working with Kajol after years — she is marvellous and beautiful. Karan feels a lot for me — whenever he wishes to cast me, he writes a film for me," he says.

The film is different from what he has done in the past. So is it a conscious decision to do such a film? "I am not someone who believes to doing a film just because it is off beat. There is something special in every role I do. The essence is that I leave something of me in every role — not 100 per cent. This role is very special as it is more technical and I had to learn a lot about it," he says.

And he dismisses all talks of reinventing himself as an actor. "I am the same old actor. When people question me I really look back and think but I feel people love characters like Rahul or Raj because they are different. Every role is different and I am not reinventing myself as an actor," says SRK.

In the midst of talks on films and success, he adds, "I wasn't supposed to work for nine months after my surgery but I did work on a slow pace. I believe the show must go on. This is also the price a star has to pay. But the good thing was that I got to spend a lot of time with my kids. Both my children boss over me and it is meant to be like that. My strength to work in such situations comes from my family and people who love to watch me," he says.

And how does he see tomorrow? On a philosophical note, he says, "I am where I never thought I would be. I got much more that what I had expected. I am strong believer in God, hard work and honesty. My family and my close relationships keep me grounded and they are more important than my career. My family likes me as a person and not because I am an actor. I never mix the two. I don't know how much I earn or how many awards I have received."
And yes, the man who has ruled many hearts across the world has a word of advice: "Money is a good thing to run after. It is very important to be financially stable but you have to keep your wrongs and rights in mind. Don't shy away from earning but without selling your soul."

Shah Rukh Khan went down on his knees and proposed to a girl dressed up as a bride at an event at Ahmedabad yesterday. Obviously, the girl does not plan to ever remove the ring

Shah Rukh Khan got married again yesterday at a five-star hotel in Ahmedabad to 20-year-old Tillana Desai. Wait, don't jump to conclusions, it was a mock wedding that SRK impulsively thought up to pacify the girl who is in love with him. SRK was promoting his film My Name is Khan and didn't think he'd run into a girl, dressed up as a bride, who also wanted her name to be Khan!

Our source said, "At his film's event, SRK had to meet people with unusual love stories. Among the crowd, was 20-year-old Tillana Desai, who had come dressed in full bridal finery. When SRK asked her about her love story, she said she had been in love with a guy since she was seven but can't marry him as he is already married.

When SRK asked her who the guy was, he was surprised to know that he was the man in question. She also said that she only uses the products that he endorses and refuses to buy anything else. The girl insisted that SRK should marry her. SRK used his million-dollar charm to overcome the awkwardness. The girl had even brought a ring with her. He went down on his knees and slipped the ring on her finger, saying that this is their rehearsal for the wedding."

The lucky girl is on cloud nine. To have SRK down on his knees is many a girl's dream, but she was the one who ended up with the special attention. We spoke to Tillana Desai, who gushed, "SRK was really cute. Usne mujhe yeh wedding ring pehnai. I told him that I've been crazy about him for years. Unfortunately, he is married. I guess he thought that my love story was very unusual and that's why he said that we should get married and gave me this ring.

I will never remove the ring and I am glad that he accepted my love and admiration for him. He even asked me about my family and I told him that they could not make it. However, I invited him to my house for dinner, but I guess he was busy."

Actor Shahrukh Khan had a taste of Gujarat as he had gone to the city of Ahmedabad for the promotion of his film 'My Name Is Khan'. The crowd went crazy on seeing him and amongst loud cheers he jigged and danced to numbers from his films. There was a contest held for choosing his die hard fan and there was one fan who even went to propose to Shahrukh to marry her.

The Baadshah was very cool and relaxed and he jokingly remarked that he could keep a couple of wives if he so desired. Then he very chivalrously bent on his knees and gifted the fan a ring. Such is the charm of King Khan that even the organizers were much impressed. SRK was thoroughly enjoying himself as he sang and danced with much enthusiasm.

Ahmedabad is a city with a mixed aroma of the yesteryears and modern day high definition life. This flavor was enjoyed by Shahrukh and as he promoted his film in a novel way by buying the first ticket to a Cineplex which had subsidized rates as a bait for the audiences. There are many novel ways of film promotion these days and as usual, SRK did it in his own special way.

Ahmedabad will now on have a new landmark….

K Sera Sera, pioneers in the area of film production and distribution, have launched India's first Miniplex Theatre in Ahmedabad at Gallops Mall, Ground Level. The Miniplex was inaugurated at the hands of our very own King Khan, Badshah of Bollywood and the superstar Shah Rukh Khan. With his unquestioned charm and popularity, the event rocked the citizens of Ahmadabad.

On this occasion, Shah Rukh Khan said, "I am honored to inaugurate the first miniplex which is going to revolutionize and usher in change in the entertainment industry of India. K Sera Sera's Miniplex experience with its superior quality can be enjoyed by people across the country at less than half the rate. Bollywood super star Shah Rukh Khan on Wednesday said enacting the character of an autistic person in 'My Name is Khan' was a challenge for him.

"I think it is a very new and difficult concept. I play Rizwan Khan, a person suffering from autism. I prepared well for the role. I hope I have done well."

"Of course, I have taken some cinematic liberties with it," he added.

The 44-year-old actor said when he, Karan (Johar) and Kajol come together they think about what new could be done, and that is how 'My Name Is Khan' has evolved.

The film, which will see the return of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol after a gap of eight years, will release on February 12.

He also thanked the people of the country for loving him and his work for so many years.

Khan, who is also owner the team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) of the Indian Premier League, skirted question on why Pakistani cricketers were not selected during the auction held last week.

Shah Rukh Khan
Aamir Khan is not the only Bollywood superstar who goes home and picks up a book instead of the television remote. Shah Rukh Khan is also a voracious reader.

King Khan truly believes that if you want to be a good actor, you have got to be a keen reader. For his latest film My Name is Khan in which his character has Asperger's syndrome and also shades of autism, SRK read several books on the subjects to keep himself updated. The Bollywood Badshah also confesses that he often finds himself reading several books at a time. "I read everything from news magazines to kids books, even graphic novels," says he.

And he also enjoys telling his children, Aryan and Suhana stories of Akbar and Birbal. "I'm a huge Birbal fan," confesses SRK. "Some ill-informed sorts have reduced the far-thinking Birbal to some kind of court jester in Emperor Akbar's court. The fact of the matter is that Birbal is actually one of the sharpest minds in history."

The Alps needs people's awareness to save itself, and Bollywood -- which shoots 15-20 films on an average in Europe's major mountain range average year -- can help in a big way, says the head of the organisation tasked with preserving its ecosystem. He hopes Shah Rukh Khan will personally deliver a message on Alpine conservation.

The Alps had clear climate-mitigation policies but needed the awareness of the people for halting environmental degradation, Alpine Convention Secretary General Marco Onida told a gathering of 150 international environmental journalists here.

'There is a clear division between civil and political society,' said the head of the Austria-based organisation that implements the international agreement on protection and sustainable development of the Alpine region. 'People's awareness on the fragility of the Alps is very low.'

The resultant overuse of water and other resources is placing a huge strain on the Alpine ecosystem, which can be reduced if Bollywood units shooting in the area are aware of it and also spread the message among the increasing number of Indian tourists, Onida said.

The Swiss government has made special efforts to invite Indian film units. It designed a special programme for them in the beginning of 2009, and is now trying to rope in units from Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Malayalam films as well.

According to Alpine Convention figures, 15-20 Hindi films are shot in the Alps in an average year. Innsbruck, capital city in the state of Tyrol in the Austrian Alps, is not only a famous winter sports centre and hub of tourism but also a favourite Bollywood shooting destination.

Onida says the Bollywood brigade seems unaware of its environmental responsibility but is by no means the worst culprit. 'We have even rowdier and more destructive visitors from elsewhere in the continent,' Onida told IANS.

But, he hoped, '(Bollywood star) Shah Rukh Khan will deliver a public message on Alpine environmental conservation. It will win the hearts and minds of more than just his fan club.'

The Alps is Europe's major mountain system, stretching from Austria and Slovenia in the east, through Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany, to France in the west.

With an area of over 207,000 sq. km, it is the main water source for Europe's major rivers like the Rhine, Po, Rhone and Danube.

The alpine permafrost, or permanently frozen subsoil, is no longer permanent, its temperatures have from 0.5 to 0.8 degrees Celsius in the last four decades, with decreasing snow cover.

'It's very worrying', says Onida, 'We are now facing a loss of Alpine biodiversity and migration of its fauna.'

Seasonal rain and snowfall patterns are changing and glaciers on the Alps have shrunk. There is also a newly-emerging phenomenon of natural disasters and hazards in the Alps with the thinning snows and the pressure to build new ski areas higher up on the glaciers.

In Galtur, the capital of the state of Tyrol in Austria and a famous winter sports centre and tourism hub, an avalanche in 1999 killed 31 people, sweeping houses in its path off the map.

On Dec 26, 2009, seven people, including four rescuers, were swept off in avalanches in the Trentino region of northern Italy. A BBC report quoted the head of Italy's civil service, Guido Bertolaso, as saying rescuers were being killed because people were ignoring warnings about conditions.

The film will star Shah Rukh Khan in lead and talks are now on for the leading lady.

"Right now the leads have been narrowed down to actresses – Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka has let Shah Rukh know that she has dates for him. In fact, she has made sure that the second half of this year is available for Don 2, if she is signed on," says a source, "But Farhan is quite keen to have Deepika in the film too."

Farhan and his partner Ritesh Sidhwani have been traveling non-stop of late to finalise on the location as well.

"Farhan is traveling to Philippines this week to finalise the exact places where he will be shooting Don 2. Dublin is another city where large portions of the film will be shot. The shoot for Don 2 starts will start some time in early October and will be done in one stretch. So, by January 2011, filming will be complete," adds our source.

"Shah Rukh was very keen to begin work on Don 2. And that's why he kept most of this year free, so that he could prepare and strengthen up for this role. There are a lot of stunts that he will be doing. He cannot afford to get injured. And so, this year, he has planned to do Ra 1 with Kareena first. That should wrap up by July end. Then as usual he will take a month off to spend with his kids, as Ra 1 is also being shot entirely in the US. And soon after that, he will begin work on Don 2, which will again be shot internationally," says the source.

Shah Rukh Khan, who will be co-producing the movie with Farhan's Excel Entertainment, is hoping for a Diwali release.

Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan today bought first ticket of K Sera Sera's Miniplex and opened this new venture at S.G.Highway based Gallops mall.
The central Air condition system was off, hand-to-hand scuffle happened between a lensman and bouncers, echo of public address system was so much that entire speech of Shahrukh was literally inaudible, adding to this the mixture of press and non-press persons inside the cramp porch of the mall made Shahrukh's appearance and media interaction chaotic.
Shahrukh was dressed in black suit, dark blue shinning shirt(two buttons open), a black blazer and dark goggles.
He said his forthcoming film is not about terrorism but it's a love story with drametic background. He also said that his original surname and film's title 'My Name is Khan' is just coincidence. "If there was any other star in this film, the film's name would still remain same," Shahrukh said.
When asked whether he had any plan to meet Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, he replied that he was in Ahmedabad just for his work this time, but in future he would surely like to meet Mr. Modi. Shahrukh also said that he had met Narendra Modi in past(perhaps Shahrukh met Modi in actress Shilpa Shetty's reception last year).
The mall where Shahrukh inaugurated the new multiplex and also interacted with media was closed for public in the morning to avoid any chaos. Both the roads leading to the mall were closed by organizers and police. Shahrukh recalled he had visited Ahmedabad before 10 years to promote his film Bazigar. He spoke a dialogues of Bazigar, Don, Darr and Devdas amidst cheer of fans and greeted the people gathered there with Gujarati word: "Kem Chho". Shahrukh said he was suffering from cold and therefore he would sound like Himesh Reshammiya while speaking.

King Khan's idea
A source close to the actor reveals, "The theatre was SRK's idea and Gauri took special interest in making it a reality. The seats recline back with the press of a button and are super-comfortable. There's also a popcorn  machine that serves fresh refreshments."

Shah Rukh plans to have a trial for My Name is Khan in theatres early next month. Also his kids Aryaan and Suhana have been watching action and animation films in the theatre. "He built it for the kids. They love watching movies. Whenever he has time off, they head to the theatre and watch a movie. Since his next Ra1 is a SFX-laden film, he also plans to watch the rushes of it in the new theatre."

Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, has re-ignited the controversy over the IPL auction, saying it was "humiliating" to see none of the Pakistani players being picked up and the issue could have been handled better. His sentiment was backed by the Rajasthan Royals coach, Darren Berry, indicating the uproar over the boycott has set IPL teams introspecting.

"I think it's actually humiliating to me as a KKR owner that this has happened," said SRK. "We are known to invite everyone, and we should have. If there were issues, they should have been put out earlier so that things could happen respectfully."

SRK said he and KKR captain Sourav Ganguly wanted to pick all-rounder Abdul Razzaq. But "I'm not going to be the one who is opposite from what everyone else is saying," he told NDTV, indicating there was a consensus among franchisees to stay away from Pakistan players.

After SRK expressed dismay at IPL franchises opting to give Pakistan players the go-by in the recent auctions, other team owners contacted by TOI said that there was, indeed, a suggestion to not pick any Pakistan player, although they did not clarify whether this suggestion came from the government or the IPL authorities. Nor did they want to go on record. "Shah Rukh is a star, he can speak his mind. We are businessmen," said one of them.

SRK, who said the entire affair had been "humiliating" for him, suggested that consensus-building could be fickle. Alluding to Shiv Sena-MNS's opposition to Australian players, SRK said in an interview to NDTV: "There is going to be a section of people who have suddenly gotten up and have said, rightly or wrongly, 'Australians will not be allowed to play'. So tomorrow, if we had known this, maybe even the Australians would not have been picked. These issues always come prime on your head, the stakes are very high."

He also gave the owners' perspective - why they could be avoiding a risky proposition. "Here is a set of people who are spending up to Rs 70, 80, 90 crore and suddenly, if you say this much to me (that a buy might be risky), I'm like, 'Uh-oh, so should I?'"

"I am not giving an excuse and I truly believe Pakistanis are the best T20 players in the world. But somewhere down the line there is an issue and we cannot deny it. We cannot keep saying, 'Oh, this was wrong'. Yes, maybe the way it was done was wrong, the way it is being carried out may be wrong. But you can't keep on saying 'Koi issue nahi hai yaar, woh aa jate' (There isn't any issue, they could have come). There is an issue, let's not deny it."

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals coach Darren Berry lashed out at IPL authorities for "humiliating" Pakistani players in the auction and alleged "politics and foreign affairs got in the way of cricket decisions". Berry said his team was eyeing Umar Akmal but "something sinister was bubbling behind the scenes", resulting in the collective snub.

Shah Rukh Khan reacts to a crater on the moon being named after him... He tells us, "It's absolutely thrilling and humbling at the same time. I came in Mumbai with stars in my eyes and Allah has granted me all and more. I am so happy that through the opportunity given to me by my fans...audience and the media platforms that I work with... I am in a small way doing good service for my country. The fact that my name is chosen is because the world is looking at India and I happen to be a part of this wonderful land of opportunity. So thanks to all those who suggested my name and everyone who has made films with me. My kids are very excited and I know my parents would have been very proud. I'm already telling Karan to launch the next film called My Name Is Chand."

Among others receiving the rare tribute of having a lunar crater named after them in the past century are Leonardo da Vinci, Christopher Columbus, Sir Isaac Newton, Julius Caesar and Jules Verne. The International Lunar Geographic Society advocates privatised exploration, settlement and development of the moon, according to information on its website.

Indian Premier League (IPL) team owners have so far denied in one voice that they deliberately did not bid for Pakistani players during the auction in Mumbai on January 19.

Now a prominent member has broken rank and voiced his opposition to how the entire matter was handelled.

Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan has admitted that the entire matter left a sour taste in the mouth.

Shah Rukh Khan's team had the maverick Pakistani paceman Shoaib Akhtar in its ranks during the inaugural edition of the Twenty20 tournament in 2008.

Two years later, while SRK gave the player auction a miss, his fellow franchisee owners decided to give up on the chance to buy Pakistanis at all and since then they have been defending their decision.

But now King Khan has chosen not to toe the line.

"They are the champions, they are wonderful but somewhere down the line there is an issue and we can't deny it. We are known to invite everyone. We should have. If there were any issues, they should have been put on board earlier. Everything can happen respectfully," he told a news channel.

Shah rukh's statement is bound to ruffle the feathers of other team owners, who have been defending their decision to give the Pakistanis a miss unapologetically.

"A lot of Australian players were not taken in the auction but zeroed in on that particular thing. So the idea of sensationalising the country's conscience is handlelled by the media. It is very, very important for the media to react sensibly," said Kings XI Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta.

"Are we in a situation to provide security with certain political parties and lunatic fringes constantly threatening? I don't think that is something that we wanted to take the onus for. And we were the losers," said Shilipa Shetty, co-owner of Rajasthan Royals.

IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi, too, won't be pleased with SRK. After all he has been blaming the media for the controversy.

"Why are you taking the case of only one country?" Modi had asked the reporters.

Clearly just as the storm was showing signs of tapering off, SRK's words are bound to find resonance on both sides of the border.

Fans go Over the Moon

Bollywood badshah Shahrukh Khan isn't just a star on earth, he is now a part of a star up in space. In a first for a film star, a New York-based organization called the International Lunar Geographic Society have gone ahead and named a lunar crater 'Shahrukh Khan'.

'Crater SR Khan' is located in the moon's Sea of Tranquillity and is the largest of the four Arago craters, positioned directly South of the main crater. The name was approved by the all powerful International Astronomical Union which handles the nomenclature of all lunar craters. According to the International Lunar Geographic Society, "the crater has been given the honorary designation as the Crater S R Khan on the occasion of Mr Khan's 44th birthday." The society says that there were a large number of petitions in favor of Shahrukh Khan from his die hard fans across the globe, and that they were more than happy to name the crater after the star.

Some of the fans are absolutely besotted by SRK, one of them even bought a piece of land on the Moon and presented it to him. Of course 'SR Khan' is not the only Indian name on the Moon, there are a few craters named after Nobel laureate C V Raman, Vikram Sarabhai who is the father of the Indian space programme , Homi Bhabha the pioneer of the nuclear programme in India, apart from astrophysicist Meghnad Saha (of the famous Saha equation). Shahrukh is no stranger to the space programme. He was invited to NASA's Johnson Space Centre back in 2001 by Eugene Cernan, the last man who visited the Moon. SRK also had a bit of fun with a model of the lunar vehicle at NASA's Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, where his film 'Swades' was shot.

However, Shahrukh's name on the crater has not made everyone happy. Suresh Naik, the president of the National Space Society condemned the move and called it 'shocking'. Others wanted Amitabh Bachchan's name on the Moon.

Although the majority of the members in the scientific community are in favour of the nomenclature. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, the pioneer of the Indian Moon Mission supported it. Pradeep Mohandas, the Secretary of the Indian chapter of the Moon Society is also with Kasturirangan, "I think it is not a bad idea since it reflects the thinking of the new generation of young Indians," he said. "I do see a rationale behind this decision. He is a kind of ambassador for India and this reflects the way India views him," he said.

MIAMI — Bollywood plans a Miami encore this spring.

Bollywood producer Prashant Shah has a $3 million budget for shooting in Miami.

Less than a year after two of India's favorite actors decamped for Miami to film a romantic comedy, Bollywood mega-star Shahrukh Khan is preparing to make the same trip to shoot one of his country's first big-budget superhero movies.

Ra.One promises to bring imaginary mayhem to South Florida as Khan's character, a Miami software engineer, accidentally gives life to a video game villain. And while the movie's announced $3 million local budget is modest by Hollywood standards, local production officials see Bollywood's return to Miami as a milestone.

Just nine months ago, production officials were touting Miami's first major Bollywood movie: Dostana, a comedy starring Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra that went on to blockbuster status in India.

And though Ra.One won't start shooting until February at the earliest, another Indian movie crew this week was filming in Miami — a far smaller production with an estimated budget of about $300,000 that officials still see as part of an encouraging trend.

Ra.One won't bring the kind of windfall a Hollywood feature delivers to South Florida's production industry. India makes movies for far less money than the United States does, and Ra.One plans on bringing crews from Mumbai to avoid the higher wages demanded by many of Florida's unionized production workers.

Ra.One does plan on some local hires for its cast and crew of about 80, and the hundreds of extras needed for scenes will come from South Florida, producer Prashant Shah said.

Ra.One is slated to start shooting just as Florida's biggest production — the cable series Burn Notice — resumes filming its third season in Coconut Grove.

The two productions will bring a burst of activity for an industry that saw a sharp drop in business in 2009. The culprits: a global recession and cuts in Florida's movie and TV subsidy fund from its 2007 peak of $25 million to this year's $11 million.

Burn Notice is expected to get $4 million of that this year, with none left for Ra.One.

Tourism officials hope the biggest payoff will come not from Ra.One's production dollars, but from its audience. With a growing middle class, India vies with China as the travel industry's favorite emerging target.

And given India's famous devotion to its movies, placing Miami as a backdrop in two Bollywood blockbusters is seen as a global marketing coup.

Past studies credit the "Bollywood effect" for bringing Indian travelers to obscure destinations in Europe and the Pacific picked as locations for Indian films. Now with India's 1.1 billion population increasingly producing affluent families, the Bollywood effect is seen as more lucrative.

"It's a huge market, and language is not a barrier, as it is in China," said Rolando Aedo, senior vice president of marketing for the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, which is mostly funded by county taxes on hotels. "The fact that we've got this movie that's going to deliver more media impressions than I could ever afford to buy, even in the best of times — the timing is extremely fortunate."

While Dostana portrayed Miami as a glamorous place to fall in love, Ra.One plans a more ominous take on the city. Khan's Shekhar must take the form of a video game hero in order to battle the technological monster he created: a powerful being called Ra.One.

"Superhero films are always take place in a very dark city," Shah said. "Here we'll have the Art Deco, the blue sky, the pastels — that's what I want to capture," said Prashant Shah, a New Jersey-based Bollywood producer behind both Dostana and Ra.One.

NEW DELHI: As a perceived snub to Pakistani players by the Indian Premier League spark a spat between the neighbouring countries, Bollywood
Shah Rukh

superstar Shah Rukh Khan, an IPL franchisee himself, believes they should have been picked.

"I truly believe they (Pakistan players) should have been chosen," Khan, co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), said.

Khan, however, said that since "some issues" were involved the matter could have been handled by the IPL "respectfully".

No Pakistani player was bought by the eight Indian clubs during an auction on Tuesday for the third edition of the glitzy IPL despite the Pakistan team being the reigning world champions in the Twenty20 format of the cricket tournament.

Rooting for the Pakistani players, Khan said they are the best T20 players in the world. "They are the champions, they are wonderful but somewhere down the line there is an issue and we can't deny it," he told a news channel.

Khan said it was humiliating to him as a KKR owner that no one bid for the Pakistani players despite them being put up for auction.

"We are known to invite everyone. We should have. If there were any issues, they should have been put on board earlier. Everything can happen respectfully," he said.

"Everyday we blame Pakistan, everyday Pakistan blames us. It is an issue," Khan, who had five players from Pakistan playing for KKR in IPL's first edition, said.

Khan felt that the youth should circumvent all that is said about India and Pakistan by the politicians and say, "It (Pakistan) is a great neighbour to have. We are great neighbours, They are good neighbours. Let us love each other."

"Let me be honest. My family is from Pakistan, my father was born there and his family is from there," he said.

The unprecedented success of Aamir Khan starrer "3 Idiots" has set a tough challenge for new releases by grossing Rs.315 crore in just 19 days. But bosses of Fox STAR studios, distributors of Shah Rukh Khan's forthcoming film "My Name Is Khan", are undeterred and hope to hit the bull's eye with the movie.

"We've always been hugely excited about 'My Name Is Khan' and we remain excited. It is fair to say that '3 Idiots' has had great success but as far as 'My Name...' is concerned, we believe that it's a film to cut across all demographics," Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star said.

"It has a wide appeal. It also has a very strong talent base which is coming together after eight years. It's a very powerful, emotionally engaging film," he added. Directed by Karan Johar, "My Name is Khan" features Shah Rukh as an unconventional hero Rizvan Khan, who embarks on a journey across America to win back the love of his life, played by Kajol. It shows how, along the way, his personality touches the lives of many and inspires a nation.

The film marks the coming together of Johar, Shah Rukh and Kajol after nine years after their last outing "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham" (2001). The movie has also been in news for Fox Star's acquisition of its global rights reportedly for $20 million. The movie will be marketed and distributed by Fox Star in India, in the US by its sister company Fox Searchlight and in the rest of the world by parent group 20th Century Fox International.

Throwing more light on "My Name...", Singh said: "'My Name Is Khan' is an amazing love story which has a very epic sweep to it. And of course it's got an amazing cast and crew. "We are hugely excited and we are going to have a worldwide release on Feb 12. It will be the widest Bollywood release ever out of India."

Asked about the number of the prints, Singh said: "It's too early (for figures) as the release is in February. But rest assured given the working progress, it will be the widest release across the widest number of countries and prints." The movie will open in theatres in India and over 40 countries including the US, Canada, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East, according to Johar' Dharma Productions. Asked about the budget of the venture, Singh promptly replied: "No. We don't go down there... We don't give our numbers."

He also refused to divulge details on the marketing strategies for the movie saying, "it's probably too early on giving out some of the information." The movie is coming a few days before Valentine's Day. Asked why, Singh said: "The very fact that Shah Rukh and Kajol are almost like the jodi of the decade. They represent the best of love pairs in Bollywood. "So here's a love story set against such a big canvas which is coming out very appropriately timed for Valentine's. It's almost like how far will you go for your love."

3 Idiots success doesn't affect MNIK distributors

Not every singer can be heard on scores of albums every year, but frequency is not an apt parameter to gauge talent either. Richa Sharma made every one sit up and take note of her powerful vocals with 'Ni Main Samajh Gai' (Taal).

Though appreciation has always come her way, her unconventional voice is not the kind that can be featured for every other movie. Yet, every time she lends her voice to a song, success is guaranteed. 'Show Me Jalwa' (Aaja Nachle), 'Daras Bina Nahin Chain' (Saawariya) and 'Jag Soona Soona Laage' (Om Shanti Om) are just a few examples that stand testimony to her singing prowess.

However, her rendition of 'Sajdaa' (My Name Is Khan) has put her into a different league altogether. The song is creating waves for various – and the right – reasons: Shot beautifully on SRK and Kajol, the Sufi number has been composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and has near perfect vocals by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Richa.

We spoke to Richa about her latest success, what music means to her, and the music director she is yet to develop a rapport with.
What does music mean to you? Is it an art of expression or a medium to fame?
It might sound very clichéd but for me, music means worship. It's certainly a medium or a tool to attain success, but at least for me, it is a path to reach the Almighty. Yes, success is important, but it can never overshadow my ultimate goal of reaching God through my music.

How would you describe your musical journey so far? Was music in your family?
My journey so far has been great and I'm still on my way to success. Music certainly wasn't in my roots. I was born in a middle class Brahmin family; my family couldn't afford to enroll me in classes that charge a bomb. However, I had inborn talent which fortunately was never suppressed by my parents; my father was especially very supportive all along. I learnt music on a very small scale but by the grace of god eventually got opportunities to broaden my horizon and today I'm doing quite a good job.

Let's come to the song 'Sajdaa'. Your rendition has been highly appreciated.  Did you expect this kind of response?
Definitely, we were expecting the huge appreciation that has come our way. The beauty of this song is that everything about it is just perfect. Right from the music composers (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) to the singers (me and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Saab) and finally the lead pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol on whom the song has been featured. Moreover, the song is soulful; our intuitions turned out to be true and the song is creating waves. I'm very happy to see our hard work getting paid off.

What according to you is the soul of this song?
I think the lyrics of the song which describe the unconditional love between SRK and Kajol. I remember I was under the impression that the song was going to be picturised in a dargah or masjid. But to my pleasant surprise, I discovered that the song has been beautifully shot on SRK and Kajol. The amazing chemistry for which the duo is renowned has made this song truly exceptional.

Each of the contestants will try and woo SRK as they croon evergreen numbers from his films, and the man himself will dance to each and every song in his signature style.

He will even jump on the table and dance to a pulsating rendition of Dard-e-Disco by Shreya's Superstars.
