KKR approach Akram for coaching job

The beleaguered Kolkata Knight Riders team, which finished at the bottom in the recently concluded second season of the Indian Premier League, has approached Wasim Akram for the job of team coach, sources revealed on Tuesday.

According to a news channel report, Akram has confirmed having received the offer from team owner Shahrukh Khan and will be giving an interview for the job at the end of the week.

According to sources, Akram's chances of getting the job are extremely bright, considering his excellent rapport with skipper Sourav Ganguly.

KKR had sacked Australian John Buchanan as coach after their poor showing in the second season of the IPL.

Since then, the Kolkata team have interviewed several people for the job including former Australia batsman Michael Bevan, former England player Dermot Reeve and former Indian batsman WV Raman.—Online
