Even before Farhan Akhtar has shot the first frame with Shah Rukh Khan for Don 2, we hear that Anil Ambani has snapped up the film distribution rights.
And this puts to rest the question on everyone's mind as to what prompted SRK to spend his evening at the Big bash celebrating the success of Rock On, Paa and 3 Idiots.
"Big Pictures has been in discussions with Farhan and Excel Films to distribute Don 2. Farhan has huge plans for the movie and it looks like Anil Ambani might just be ready to fund them," says our source.
And if SRK's last film is anything to go by, we think Big Pictures will be looking to cough up obscene sums of money for the worldwide distribution rights. Farhan and Big Pictures remained mum on the subject.
But SRK, who enjoyed a huge remuneration for his movie My name is Khan when it was bought by Fox Star Studios for distribution, did let a cat out of the bag when he said, "I don't have any film right away with Big Picutres but I believe Ritesh (Sidhwani) and Farhan (Akhtar) have one."
Farhan and his partner Ritesh Sidhwani have been traveling non stop of late to finalise on the locations for the film that will star SRK, Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal and Boman Irani.
"Farhan traveled to Philippines to finalise the exact places where he will be shooting Don 2. Dublin and Germany are also cities where large portions of the film will be shot. The shoot for Don 2 starts will start sometime early October and will be done in one stretch. So by January 2011 filming will be complete," adds our source.
"Shah Rukh was very keen to begin work on Don 2. And that's why he kept most of this year free so that he could prepare and strengthen up for this role. There are a lot of stunts that he will be doing. He cannot afford to get injured. And so this year he has planned to do Ra 1 directed by Anubhav Sinha with Kareena first. That should wrap up by July end. Then as usual he will take a month off to spend with his kids. And soon after that he will begin work on Don 2 which will again be shot internationally," says the source.
Shah Rukh Khan who will be co-producing the movie with Farhan's Excel Entertainment, is hoping for a Diwali release.
